The Anxiety Field Guide — before and after Edition · 2026

The Shift

Two states. One field guide between them.

Most anxiety content sits in one camp: pharma orthodoxy, wellness inflation, or therapist-speak. This is the synthesis adults actually need.

Before the field guide

Overwhelmed.

  • Racing thoughts that won't quiet
  • Physical stress lodged in jaw, chest, gut
  • Stuck in survival mode at the desk
  • Doomscrolling for an answer that fits
  • "What if I can't keep up?"

After the field guide

Calm. Clear. In control.

  • A quiet mind that can hold complexity
  • A body that resets between demands
  • Decisions made from clarity, not fear
  • A framework instead of a feed
  • Living on your terms, again

What This Guide Builds

Five outcomes. Engineered, not promised.

Each section maps to one of the foundations that shifts how anxiety lives in your body and mind. The book is a system, not a pep talk.

Clear Mind

Cognitive tools that interrupt loops without suppressing them. CBT, defusion, reframing.

Calm Body

Breath protocols and somatic resets with evidence: physiological sigh, resonance, cyclic sighing.

Emotional Balance

How to live alongside intensity instead of swinging through it. Acceptance, not avoidance.

Focus & Productivity

Sleep, exercise, screens, and the lifestyle foundations that outperform almost everything.

Confidence & Freedom

A long-term arc that brings real recovery into reach, on your terms, in your context.

Why It Matters

The defining mental-health condition of our time.

It crosses every culture, income bracket, age and gender. And the gap between mainstream care and what people actually need has never been wider.

Why It Sells Globally

Anxiety doesn't need cultural translation.

The biology is the same in Stockholm, Singapore, São Paulo and Seoul. The information landscape is fragmented everywhere; the calibrated synthesis is needed everywhere.

Honest Answers

Frequently asked.

If a question matters, the chapter for it is in the book. Here are the ones we get at checkout.

Is this a substitute for therapy or medical care?

No. The Anxiety Field Guide is an educational reference, not personalised clinical advice. It is designed to make you a sharper participant in your own care: it explains the landscape of evidence-based treatments, helps you ask better questions of your clinician, and gives you the foundations and tools to support whatever path you choose with them.

If you are in crisis, the book is not the right tool in that moment. Appendix B lists international crisis lines.

I'm not sure if I have an "anxiety disorder." Will this still help?

Yes. Anxiety runs along a continuum from adaptive worry to clinical disorder, and Part III is dedicated to that spectrum. The lifestyle foundations, breathwork, cognitive tools, and sleep chapters are useful at any level. The clinical chapters become more relevant the further along the spectrum you sit.

How is it different from the dozens of anxiety books already out there?

Most anxiety content lives inside one camp: pharma, CBT, wellness, somatic, or lifestyle. They rarely speak to each other. This book is the calibrated synthesis. It takes medications seriously (and is honest about discontinuation). It takes therapy seriously and distinguishes evidence-based modalities from marketing momentum. It takes lifestyle foundations seriously and assigns them their actual weight, which is larger than most adults realise. It treats the emerging treatments with appropriate calibration about what we know.

What format does it come in?

Instant digital download as a professionally typeset PDF (472 pages, designed for both screen and print) plus a DOCX file you can highlight or annotate in Word, Google Docs, or your preferred editor.

I'm on medication. Should I read the discontinuation chapter?

Yes — but read it as preparation for a conversation with your prescriber, not as instructions. Part XXII covers the honest framework around tapering, withdrawal, and the modern evidence on hyperbolic tapering. Do not change or stop medication based on anything you read in the book. The chapter is designed to make the conversation with your clinician better, not to replace it.

Are there refunds?

Because the book is delivered instantly as a digital download, sales are final after delivery. If you have a problem accessing your file or the download fails, email us and we'll fix it.

How long does the launch price last?

The Anxiety Field Guide

Anxiety is the defining mental health condition of our time, and the modern conversation about it has fragmented into corners that don’t talk to each other. Pharmaceutical medicine owns one corner, with SSRIs and benzodiazepines and an evidence base that is real but incomplete. Cognitive and behavioural therapy owns another, with decades of clinical trial data and effective protocols that many adults never access. The wellness industry owns another, with breathwork and somatic practices and supplements ranging from genuinely useful to actively misleading. The influencer space owns another, with nervous system regulation discourse and vagus nerve theories that contain real science buried in substantial marketing. And the lifestyle medicine community owns yet another, with sleep and exercise and nutrition interventions that produce some of the largest effects but get systematically underweighted by adults looking for a faster answer. None of these corners is wrong, exactly. Each has captured a real piece of the picture. But the adult who is anxious and trying to figure out what to do encounters them as competing camps, with practitioners in each one often suspicious of the others. SSRIs are dismissed as pharmaceutical capture by some wellness voices;

breathwork is dismissed as flaky by some clinicians; therapy is positioned as the answer by some and as too slow by others; exercise is universally recommended and universally undervalued; ketamine and psychedelics enter the conversation with both real promise and substantial commercial inflation. The information landscape is loud and contradictory and exhausting precisely when an anxious person is least equipped to evaluate it carefully. This book is the calibrated synthesis. It takes the medications seriously and discusses them honestly, including what they do well, where they fall short, and the discontinuation issues the field has historically underweighted. It takes therapy seriously and distinguishes between the modalities with the strongest evidence and the ones that exist primarily through marketing momentum. It takes lifestyle foundations seriously and assigns them their actual weight, which is larger than most adults realise. It takes the wellness and somatic interventions seriously where the evidence supports them and is honest about where it doesn’t. It covers the emerging therapies, ketamine, psychedelic-assisted treatment, newer compounds, with appropriate calibration about what we know and what we don’t. It treats anxiety as the real biological and psychological phenomenon it is rather than either a character flaw to overcome or a chemical imbalance to medicate.
